Dear reader, You may believe that this book will leave you a better, happier, more informed, and maybe even wiser person. And while that may or may not be the case, I certainly hope your mindset will be changed; Because while Lyra Deneson thought she had a wonderful life; Fate had other plans. To truly appreciate the good, you have to understand the bad. So, all I ask is; while you read this book, do not scrutinize me for everything Lyra goes through. Don't blame me for the unfortunate things, then read the good things and forget all the bad it took to get there. While most authors spend their time working toward the end, I prefer to highlight the experiences of the characters. You may not get the ending you were hoping for or expecting; but if you could predict the ending it wouldn't be a very good book, would it? Didn't think so. I guess what I'm trying to say is enjoy the book, enjoy the rollercoaster ride of emotions and experiences you'll get to endure with the characters. -Anna Linville

"He wasn't mine. But God, I wanted to be his." It started with a stare. One moment. One boy. And suddenly, my world wasn't mine anymore. He was arrogant, reckless, and way too good-looking for his own good. I was just the curvy girl he once body-shamed in front of a whole class. So tell me-why did he start looking at me like I was the only one in the room? "We were always almost. Almost right. Almost real. Almost enough." What we had wasn't healthy. It was late-night texts, stolen glances, ghosted mornings, and the kind of love that leaves bruises on your soul. But I kept going back. Because sometimes, the people who ruin you... feel a lot like home. This isn't a fairytale. This is a slow burn. A beautiful disaster. A story of almosts.

These aren't love stories. They're fragments of flings, mismatched intentions, and blurry friendships with men I never fell for (and a few I almost did). A soft collection of missed cues, almosts, mixed signals, and quiet endings. This is where clarity lives - not in the label, but in the letting go. Written by a 30-something woman navigating modern dating, unspoken expectations, and the messy space between "we're just talking" and "what are we?"
