WATTPAD ORIGINAL EDITION In 1955, mixed-race Ethan Harper leaves his progressive hometown for a summer in Alabama where he's not welcome, except by resident free spirit, Juniper Jones. ***** After getting himself into a bout of trouble, 16-year-old Ethan Harper's parents send him to Ellison, Alabama, to live with his aunt and uncle for the summer. But the year is 1955, and Alabama is a far cry from his beloved home of Arcadia, Washington. As much as it's hotter in temperature, it's colder in every other way, and Ethan learns the hard way that people see his mere existence as a threat. Amidst all the mayhem, a fiery, free-spirited, oddball walks into Ethan's life. Her name is Juniper Jones. She is the first person in Ellison who seems unfazed by their racial differences, and she promises to give Ethan a summer he will always remember, filled with endless adventure and discovery. With Juniper, Ethan can breathe, he can be, despite the incessant attention and bullying their newly formed friendship attracts. Can the two survive the summer, run in the light and block out the noise of the outside world? [Published version comes out June 16, 2020 with Wattpad Books!] [[word count: 70,000-80,000 words]]

WATTPAD BOOKS EDITION. There are some friends you never forget. It's the summer of 1955. For Ethan Harper, a biracial kid raised mostly by his white father, race has always been a distant conversation. When he's sent to spend the summer with his aunt and uncle in small-town Alabama, his blackness is suddenly front and center, and no one is shy about making it known he's not welcome there. Enter Juniper Jones. The town's resident oddball and free spirit, she's everything the townspeople aren't-open, kind, and accepting. Armed with two bikes and an unlimited supply of root beer floats, Ethan and Juniper set out to find their place in a town that's bent on rejecting them. As Ethan is confronted for the first time by what it means to be black in America, Juniper tries to help him see the beauty in even the ugliest reality, and that even the darkest days can give rise to an invincible summer . . .

Takes place in 1957 and so on (a possibility) 15-year-old Paul McCartney finds himself in the heart of the Quarrymen's crowd, and he looks for a way out of it before he hears the "frontman" goofing off. He looks ahead and sees 16-year-old John Lennon taking part in his usual quirky antics before he starts singing 'That'll Be The Day'. After the song, John calls Paul out for being "proper and sophisticated," which intrigues-and embarrasses-Paul more than he cares to admit. Only after Paul calls back something meant as a joke does he realise how dangerous this John boy really is. ⚠: I understand that John and Cynthia started dating in 1958, but in order to fit the storyline, they has to start dating in late 1957. Sorry for the inconvenience Some mentions of underage drinking and smoking BL beyond this point - if you are not comfortable with this type of genre, do not read! This was originally written on my home computer on Google Docs I'm not sure when John started wearing his buddy holly glasses, but I made it now so that buddy would have a symbolic meaning in the story :)

It was the height of sock hops and jukeboxes. The time when Rock 'n Roll was the soul of the nation and milkshakes ruled the soda shops. Everybody said it was "fabulous", but for Eleanor Harper the 1950's was the best and worst years of her life. After the loss of her father forces her to leave her childhood home, Eleanor Harper is faced with finishing her last few months of high school in a new town halfway across the country. As if her life couldn't get any worse, a clumsy moment lands her at the feet of the most infamous greaser in school, Rider Hale. He's got more rumors coiled around his name than he's got tattoos, and Ellie has every intention to stay as far away from Rider as possible But when a horrible coincidence lands the new girl and the greaser as class partners, Ellie has no choice but to work with Rider if she wants to graduate this year. But as Ellie gets to know Rider, she soon discovers that the greaser isn't all his reputation tells. ---

Never did a car move so swiftly as it did when Johnny Saia was behind the wheel, or at least that's what they say. Chaos erupts in a small town in America 1959 divided by wealth, religion, race and class when local legend Johnny Saia disappears planning to runaway leaving his friends to pick up the pieces. Throughout they day they encounters car theft, rumbles and drag races but that's the least of their problems. As everything seems to be falling apart they are forced to face the hard facts of life - things change and perhaps were never really what they seemed in the first place. This is a story not about chasing the light but running away from the dark.

Jones has never understood why she always has to fight everything. She has to fight her teachers when they don't give her the grade she deserves, she has to fight her sisters' boyfriends when they're being scamps, and she has to fight the whole world for being who she is; not just another housewife. She's gotten quite good at fighting, actually, and important people have started to notice.

Writer's Block "It's the most rough, depressing, irritating feeling I've ever experienced but I also feel excited because then I know a breakthrough is coming very soon. Scenes begin to play in my head...yes they are scattered but that's the beauty of my writing process it's a puzzle - I love puzzles- and I get to put the pieces together. The edges are already glued in place all I have to do is fill it in!" _______________________________________ What can I say "about" this blog. It may enlighten but it may also confuse or bore you. It depends on YOU as a reader and the subject I pick at hand. I am not trying to teach anything whatsoever! I don't care to teach. I just like to share common ideas, themes, intellects, and so on. At times, yes, this may seem like a random blog and it very well may be. However, I will rein in the subjects I touch on. And it may start off slow in the beginning but...bear with me...if you please. As you can see the name of this blog is basically the "About" that you need to know. Focusing on The Written Word, such as, books, plays, quotes, other blog posts, etc. and also The Spoken Word, such as, movies, TV shows, videos, etc. At times, yes, it may seem as if I've turned into a film or literature critic but I assure you It's only temporary. So enjoy, hate, love, or wonder about The Written and Spoken Word.
