The year is 1971, and America is in crisis. With the Vietnam war still raging, protests in the streets and the deep unrest continues. Violet Jones is trying to battle the government, along with her own inner turmoil. With her luck, she won't defeat either. Ben Barlow is simply lost. He's not entirely sure how he wound up in America, and he definitely doesn't know what to do now. He and Violet have that last bit in common.

Sofia is just a ordinary 19-year-old girl living in the suburbs of the UK. One night she goes out to see one of her favorite bands (Neck Deep) play live with her best friend Ashley, She ends up catching Bens eye. Lets just leave it at that.

Fil and Violet meet on a beach in California while Fil is on warped tour and Violet is on holiday. They meet again months later in their home town, Lincoln, UK.
