The last thing that I remember was that a storm began in the middle of the sea. I was alone, hunting after a long day training... for the day that nobody wanted or ever dreamed of. The meeting. Sirens and humans supposedly coexisting in peace once again as it happened once, million years ago. We, all of us knew that nothing could or ever would be the same after the horrible massacre that happened back in 1476. All of the world once knew about us, and they betrayed us by killing each mermaid and merman close to shore. They once loved and lived in completely peace with us but everything fell to pieces after that. Every human was taken away from all of the mermaids there were and with each year that passed, the government made humans believe that we all were a mythological creature that was a creation of each children imagination. We were forgotten. But we are still here.

When I was a kid, I used to kick and splash my legs around in the bathtub, pretending to be a mermaid. I would move quickly so that the water would spray ever so slightly, and I would make believe that I was creating a tsunami. It was all harmless fun. These were the days when everything was innocent, and timeless. It's funny, really. How easily and effortlessly a life can change forever with just one choice. For me, my choice was to get on that wretched boat.
