After the end of the civilized world as we know it, the humans that remain leave their final words to those that come after.

The palace hummed with celebration, but in Avantika's quiet room, there was only silence. Her husband, the king, danced with his courtiers, the sounds of laughter and music echoing in the halls. But she remained invisible to him. She had spent years loving him in silence-waiting for a glance, a sign, anything to prove that she mattered. But he never saw her. Her love, gentle and patient, had never been returned. Over time, it had faded into quiet sorrow, but still, she waited. Tonight, as always, she sat alone, pen in hand. The letter she wrote was not the first-it never was. But this one would be the last. My Lord, I waited for you. I loved you. And I never stopped. The ink blurred with her tears as she wrote, the words heavy with everything she could never say aloud. Her heart was empty now. She knew he would never read it, never understand. The king would never know what he had lost. The letter remained, untouched, hidden in a drawer-her final confession.
