Hawkins Georgia is normally a quiet, peaceful town, full of the typical weirdos and drunks. Late at night it wasn't unusual to see high schoolers walking home completely wasted from some party, or even more... obscure, scenes.
Then a corpse was discovered at the bottom of the gorge, completely mutilated, as if some wild animal had torn it to shreds. But hey, it's just one body, no big deal. Within a week the case went cold and officers concluded that a bear had killed the victim.
But a week later, another body was found under a bridge. The thing was, this particular bridge was above the stream that ran into the depths of the gorge; clearly the bear had struck again. At least, that's what everyone wanted to think.
An exact week later and yet a third dead victim was discovered, this time on the opposite side of town, where there was no place for a bear- it would've been seen immediately upon entering that part of town.
There was a serial killer in Hawkins.
Everyone is in panic mode, a curfew is issued, and a slow week passes; time for another body to appear.
And appear it did.
Right by the window of Ella Rose's bedroom. The fourth victim was identified as teenager Scarlet Hampton, well known as a druggie and Ella's best friend. With the police getting nowhere on the case and the killer knowing that Ella saw them commit a murder, Ella knows that she has to take matters into her own hands.
But can she live long enough to expose the truth? Or will she become the fifth victim?
