In the world of Terra, monsters rule the night.
Gigantic, magical beasts roam the land, and humanity survives by hunting them for food, armor, medicine, and glory.
Milo Nordingheir is the son of a legendary hunter, but unlike his father, he was born scrawny and placed in the armory to design weapons instead of slaying beasts. Mocked by his people and distant from his father, Milo dreams of proving himself worthy by becoming a Huntling - a hunter-in-training.
When a monstrous pack attacks his village under cover of darkness, Milo seizes his chance. Using a weapon of his own invention, he strikes down the Omega of the pack: a mysterious winged creature known only as The Black.
But instead of dying, the creature vanishes into the forest.
Haunted by what he's done and driven by curiosity rather than hatred, Milo ventures beyond the safety of his village and discovers something no hunter has ever believed:
Monsters are not mindless beasts.
They have families.
They have fear.
They have bonds.
Caught between his people's way of life and a truth that could change Terra forever, Milo must decide whether monsters are meant to be hunted...
or understood.
