(✔️)**Book II, read Book I (Bring Forth a Fire) to avoid spoilers** Benedict Huntley's reign has ended. The Essence Machine is no more. And the Elemental families have flourished. It appears all is well. But with a single telegram, lives are upended and the quiet of the years since Huntley's fall is once again disrupted. The Elementals are suddenly thrust into a world of danger once again. None too surprisingly, Peter and Charlotte Haywood, children of Emma Haywood and Christopher Wellington, find themselves caught up in the whirlwind. And so too, it seems, is the reclusive Duke of Tonbridge...who hides secrets of his own. And soon enough, the promise of a war is brewing on the horizon, one that will not only pull the Elementals into, but the rest of the world. The changes it brings are unfathomable.

The Emperor of Russia's four daughters - Olga, Tatiana, Marie, and Anastasia - are best friends as well as sisters. Being in an unusual position as daughters of the one of the world's most powerful men, sometimes it feels that they are each other's only true companions. They must savour all the time they have left, though, as they are rapidly changing from beguiling little girls hidden away in the palace nursery to charming young women whose names dominate gossip magazines with talk of which foreign princes they will one day marry. It is 1913, and the imperial family is celebrating three hundred years of their family's rule. The tercentenary celebrations mark the beginning of the last full year the girls have to just be sisters; to venerate their youth. But beyond the gates of the Alexander Palace, a different fate is in store for the sisters and their family. Europe is a freight train of politics and tensions charging headfirst into the modern era, and the House of Romanov, steeped in tradition and antiquity, must change with it, or else be crushed under the wheel of time. *** NOTE: This story is not on hiatus! Chapters will be written and published as and when they are ready, but there will not be a consistent update schedule between February and July 2020, while the author sorts out some "real world" shenanigans. This note will be replaced once a schedule has been organised.

They said that The First World War would be over by Christmas; but, which one? 'Rain Along the Fire-step' is a book set in 1917, within the back-drop of The 3rd Battle of Ypres or 'Passchendaele'. The book charts the experiences of six disparate, fictitious infantry-soldiers the three days preceding their ascent up various trench-ladders and out into the mud and blood of 'No Man's Land' to, in dwindling-hope, reach those verdant green-fields beyond. The Battle of Langemarck, near Ypres, was a real battle; but none of the 'poor bloody infantrymen' who fought in it, are now left alive to attest to its miserable blood-soaked drama. It is therefore sincerely hoped by the author, that through these six fictional characters, this book in some very-small way, could go towards honouring those soldiers who did fight and who could very-well have been them.

1915. Europe has pledged herself into a catastrophic war. It is the Great War. Every nation chooses a side with either the Entente or the Central Powers. Our story takes place in the region where it all started, in the Balkans. Specifically every Balkan nation is fighting. All except one. Greece. You see at this point of time the young Kingdom of Greece has been victorious in the Balkan Wars against its enemies, the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Bulgaria. Now however , Greece has to make a choice : Joining the Entente or the Central Powers. There are two powerful men however who represent each ideology : King Constantine I who supports neutrality in favour of the German Empire and the Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos who supports the Entente. Their conflict would lead the tiny country onto series of vendettas infighting and the testament of the Greek people in an event were a country was split in half. You can call it a Schism. A National Schism to be more accurate. All images belong to their respective owners!!!

This is a book about an alternate history, in which a future story of mine will take place. I am not a Nazi, Fascist or Communist, my work does not support any of these ideologies either. Please comment what you think and give me your opinions. Note: some formatting is a bit fucked on mobile, so just watch out for that.

COMPLETED A young girl waits for her brother to come home. The Great War surely can't last much longer, can it? NOTE: This was something I wrote for an 850 word competition, and it came joint first. You won't find it on any other websites as it was a competition local to where I live, but I hope you enjoy it.
