When a young Nagisa Hazuka experiences love at first sight with a beautiful girl in a flower field, he is infatuated with her. His every thought was on the girl, how her elegance radiated even brighter then the glistening orb in the sky that brightened up her features. The girl, soon after meeting the blonde boy, finds him in her school and ever since they've been hip and hip. What will happen when the Iwatobi Swim Club begins to shatter the relationship the two had promised so long ago. Makoto Tachibana is off to college in Tokyo training to be a swim coach. Naigsa Hazuki, Rei Ryugazaki and Gou Matsuoka are still running the swim club and recruiting new members at Iwatobi High School. Aiichiro Nitori has now been promoted to captain of the Samezuka swim team. Rin Matsuoka and Haruka Nanase train for Olympic class swimming. How will everyone react to the sudden changes to their regular and enjoyable lifestyles? Will Rin and Haru's friendship crash in a dire incident, or will it prevail?

When Haruka is no longer able to speak about his true feelings, Makoto helps him to fill in the blanks, with a little help from the rainfall. The Iwatobi boys visit a beach cabin to celebrate their successes and achievements in the Nationals High School Swim Meet, right before they must go their separate ways in the upcoming fall season.
