He needs someone other than his wife, Catherine Rollins, to know everything he has gone through, so the kids can be told in the future. Steve needs someone else to remember his memories, because he doesn't know how long he can hold on to them for.

When Five-0 arrives at the scene, they arrest her for the murder of Commander Medda, who was trying to tell her that an old friend of hers died. What came across strange to McGarrett, was that she was framed the same way McGarrett was for the murder he was framed for. With no one trusting Michelle, she struggles to recover while in the hospital as she is near death.
