Flannery Stories

This paper argues how the grandmother from Flannery O'Connor's short story "A Good Man is Hard to Find" is partially deficient in empathy. I hated the idea of how my research was only read by my professors, so I wanted to share my findings to a bigger audience. I hope you enjoy this short essay! P.S. the cover picture is not my own. It's been twenty years since Kyle and Hazel defeated Team Plasma. During that time they've had kids, three to be exact: Rosie who's seventeen, Joseph who's sixteen, and Jacob who's elven. Kyle's decided to take Hazel and the kids with him to visit his home region but a new threat is beginning to rise and begins to experiment on pokemon creating new ones combined with one another. The kids will now rise and take it down. Their loyalty to each other will be tested, and so will their loyalty to their pokemon that might or not be being manipulated. Like their mother and father, they have the extraordinary ability to understand pokemon's true language. Along the journey, romance will fly and annoyance will pester the siblings, they'll have to set aside their differences and work together, as siblings.

What happened if Pokemon were never discovered? Humanity has split itself up and abandoned themselves in far corners of the land. But now two boys and their friends are willing to discover the mystery of the land and uncover what was once lost. A Pokemon Fanfic but mostly just focused on the gym leaders and that kind of stuff. Never really tried a fanfic like this so yeah. Stuff belongs to Pokemon, Gamefreak and Nintendo. Not me. That should be obvious.

“It’s almost like fate.” She brushed past me and placed her hands against the cool glass of the window. “The Fate of Flannery Flynn, the girl in room three-ten.” Flannery Flynn and her brother, Mark, never knew their parents had attended the ultra-exclusive Westwood Cliffs Preparatory Academy together, or that one of their grandparents also attended. Thrown into the role of being a father to his sister, Mark makes a desperate decision and enrolls Flannery at the secretive school. Unable to change his mind, Flannery switches schools again, leaving the bustle of Chicago for the eery stillness of Westwood Cliffs. Used to being on her own, Flannery is grateful when she is assigned a double room but not a roommate. Certain she is just the victim of New Girl Pranks, Flannery ignores the cryptic whispers of the other students; whispers promising her she isn't the only occupant of room 310.

Flannery Caraway liked to imagine that she’d forgotten all about her former best friend, Nate Gray. But if she were to do that, she’d be lying. Flannery had left Nate and her old home in the suburbs when she was whisked away to Manhattan in first grade when her father landed a promotion in New York City. But now that her parents have divorced and her mother gotten custody, her mother’s decided to get back to their roots and move back to their old home in suburban New Jersey. But when she’s reunited with her old town, she’s also reunited with her old troubles, which includes Nate. Now, Nate has a new potential love interest, new friends, and a new personality entirely. Flannery, accompanied by her new friends, tries to discover whether or not the Nate she knew and love still exists, and if moving back to suburbia was really worth it in the end.

A theme challenge of 30. Each chapter is supposed to be a drabble (less or at 100 words) but I usually end up making ficlets... Ranges over differing fandoms.
