Emma walks through a world that has ended. She carries the memory of Anne - the woman she loved, the life they had, the fire that took it all away. A war has destroyed everything. Emma survived. Now she walks toward the sea, asking herself one question: what is the point of surviving when everyone you love is gone? "The Wind" is a short story about grief, survival, and irreversibility of things people do.

I didn't know where the mass of flesh had come from, or why it had appeared in my apartment. I only knew it couldn't stay. Bound by necessity and a dark, unspoken burden, I crafted a makeshift boat out of uneven planks, household glue, and duct tape. I couldn't do it alone, so I called my mother. Without a single sermon or a glance of judgment, she helped me carry the strange mass to a secluded riverbank to give it back to the earth. A surreal, atmospheric short story exploring a bizarre haunting, familial duty, and the heavy weight of things left unexplained.
