For four thousand years, the city of Eldrith has floated in a star-choked void, protected by the violet light of the Foundation Arch. The citizens believe they are the last safe haven in the universe. They are wrong. Lyra Galen is a spatial magus of the High Ridge, a prodigy born to pluck the fabric of reality and uphold a legacy of unyielding stone. Her life is one of prestige and pressure-until the Festival of Awakening goes wrong. A shockwave from the void plunges the city into darkness, leaving the foundations of Eldrith shivering in the silence. Magic in Eldrith flows from Lumen, a radiant particle that reacts with each citizen's DNA to grant unique abilities-and without it, even the most skilled magus struggles. While the Great Houses hunt for a scapegoat, the city's elite turn their eyes toward the only instability they've ever known: Ewan, Lyra's quiet, fragile brother. To the world, Ewan is a "sickly bird" who withers when the city's light grows too bright. To Lyra, he is the only person worth protecting in a world built on ancient pride. But as the air begins to thin and Lumen-Dysphoria takes hold, Lyra discovers that the fracture in the stone is nothing compared to the lies buried in her own home. A three-hundred-year-old secret is bleeding through the cracks of the manor.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was scavenging for scraps in the dump piles when I heard a yelp. The voice was much less raspy than everyone who lives down here and I was curious. I slowly crept through the trash silently, hiding behind a large hunk of metal. I looked through a small opening in the peice to see a girl around my age with curly blonde hair and impractical clothes. She looked like what we see in picture books found in the dump piles. There were bows in her hair and frills on her dress. She looked towards me and gasped, starting to shake. Then I knew where she came from. She came from the city, she fell from above.

Aethergate is a floating city hailed as a holy miracle-where humanity didn't advance through machines, but through Lumen, a living power shaped by will, emotion, and pressure. Recruits from every kingdom gather beneath its Quiet Laws to climb a brutal ladder of strength: Knot → Chain → Anchor, each rank a massive leap in power, each step harder to earn than the last. Kairo arrives as just another candidate... except something about him feels wrong in a way no test can explain. His strength is unnatural, his control too clean, and the world around him reacts like it's being pulled off balance. In a city built on discipline, that kind of presence draws attention-especially when strange incidents begin creeping closer to the academy's walls. Alongside him is Serin Auvray, a brilliant exchange recruit from Veyloria, threading her way through the ranks with precision and secrets of her own. In Aethergate, power isn't just talent. It's weight. And the higher you rise, the less the city can tell you who to be.

When the vine-threshold opens and the Choosing begins, the ruin stirs. Each girl carries a secret. Each path demands a cost. Immortals have, as the name implies, everlasting life. Most are powerful leaders or businessmen, given all that time even the dumbest become the most skilled. Some start off dull, some very sharp, either way, they become powerful. Sometimes though they're born into power, the king himself is an immortal, all in the royal line are. However, not all are from this beloved city. A city made out of millions of clay buildings piled up to the clouds then made to float at the above them. The clay buildings are supported by spires made of black stone, an astonishingly strong material. The spires protrude from the bottom a little ways and let out energy that keeps the city afloat. The city is filled with millions of people, and among them the occasional Immortal. Destro, who goes by Des, was a normal boy on the streets. An ordered life and stability was something he'd always craved but had never been able to keep. Then one day he heard of the Establisher. The one who never gives ground. This man kept the streets under his control completely organized and stable. His group says it's purpose is to bring order where the government refuses to care. Des decided he would join the Establisher's clan. He has no clue however what he's getting himself into. In fact he will never have the chance to completely understand the full picture, the real reason the Establisher is in the City at all, for he will probably never live long enough.
