It is two years after the epilogue of The Witch Trial. Florence, her husband Rob, their daughter Joan and their ever loyal friends are still living on a farm far away from Salem. All was well until one night when a group of restless spirits who had been unjustly burnt at the stake for heresy decide to take justice into their own ghostly hands. After Rob's disappearance and a visit from these spirits, Florence fears for her family's lives and sets out to bring peace between the living and the dead-though this means venturing back to Salem and reviving the long-forgotten memories of the life she left behind.

I felt gratitude to you and then I started having feelings for you. Before I knew it, I was caught in the web of deceit and I didn't know what to do." "You want to know what you should've done?" Indie's false calm melted into fear and fury. "You should've never talked to me in the first place. You should've left me alone." The anger forced her to rise to her feet. "We're done here." She stormed out of the diner, leaving him behind. He didn't follow her. ~ Indiana had expected for college to be fairly straight forward. She would go to classes, make friends, go to the occasional party, and, if she were lucky, she would fall in love. But when at the end of her sophomore year, she almost runs over the handsome, and surprisingly naked, Septimus Carter, she could've never imagined that this man would change her life. Septimus Carter had only wanted to live a comfortable life with his mother in their small house. But the night of October 1st would spell the end of his dreams, when a vampire, Ira Ackerman, murders Septimus' mother right in front of him. He vows from that moment to kill Ira Ackerman no matter what it would cost him. Even if the price was his mortality.

The Witch Hunters are coming down hard on Salem; exploring people's family histories and past religious beliefs. Florence Leontine Mary Welch, redhead twenty-five year old daughter of hardworking citizens Evelyn and Nicholas Welch, is discovered to have a great-great grandmother on Evelyn's side who is an escaped convicted witch. Evelyn, her husband and children Grace and JJ are safe, for they have been Confirmed under God's Church of Salem. Florence, however, is non-religious and chose to follow her own beliefs throughout her life, which leads the Hunters to believe she is a witch. She is immediately arrested and imprisoned in the Tower. When her family turn their backs on her, it's up to her childhood friends Isabella, Christopher, Tom, Robert and Mark to save her.
