The life boats were gone, and the only option was to jump. After saying goodbyes to her family, Addie dived into the water. Unlucky for her, the life jacket she was wearing had a hole in it and it was nearly impossible to rise above the waves to get any air. As Addison started getting dizzy, she started seeing a face. A girl with red hair wearing a purple bikini top and green jeans. Or was it jeans? Addison just met Ariel, the little mermaid, which was only the beginning. based on the original fairy tale but told as a contemporary ya romance! seventeen-year-old ariel has grown up in a small town in upstate new york and knows she wants more than she can find there. she routinely sneaks out to perform at flounder, a bar famous among locals for its shows and open mic nights. during one of these shows, ariel meets eric, and the two hit it off. however, they get split up at the end of the night without even exchanging numbers. later on, rising tension at home forces ariel to leave, and she decides to head for new york city and get a jump start on her future. but after witnessing something she shouldn't have, ariel gets kidnapped and barely escapes with her life, let alone her voice, her one ticket to success in her new life. she begins a search for eric, the boy she met at flounder, in hopes that he can help her get her voice back and, at the very least, to be a familiar face that doesn't know her as just the troublemaker of the troy family. join ariel on her journey to make a name for herself in a new city and hopefully find true love :)
