Thea lives with her father in an apocalyptic time. The UN has disbanded and are fighting themselves, waging atomic wars and destroying entire populations with plagues. Due to an increase in harmful pollution, Thea and her father must devout their time to planting sunflowers in order to cleanse their crop soil. And this is just one problem in an endless sea. Thea will discover that living and surviving are two very different things as she battles with her sorrowful past and destructive present.
