The fog doesn't just hide the town. It hides the screams. Jonathan was the Captain of his life until the world vanished into a wall of white. It's the year 5003, and things are about to change drastically-for those who can endure it. Nike Redd and her younger brother Freddie live in the Third Faction, or the 'Bottom', the absolute poorest faction in existence. They've never had much, but they did have friends. Ash and Brendan Colby are slightly older than Nike and Freddie, but, as members of the First Faction, they were one of the only reasons that the Redds had been able to survive for so long. But when the factions and everything above ground is destroyed by a mysterious, deadly green fog, none of the classes matter anymore, for the Factions cease to exist. Not many had survived, and with all of the crops and plant life, as well as buildings and animals completely dead and unlivable, there may be only a short amount of time before the rest of humanity goes along with everything else.

I experienced fog as a child walking to school in the winter - was strange I could only hear a car approaching once it was near. I then experience fog at a lighthouse on a hot summer day and it was winter like conditions so cold we needed coats/blankets. Ten minutes away was a beach and 30 degree temperature change. I also drove to Disneyland through Central Valley in CA in the middle of night in fall and its loaded with Fog so scary to drive. I was exhausted when we got there because of the heightened senses required to take fog on.

"As I came to the Inn where I stayed, I heard the other guests talk and whisper of what a fool I had been to have ventured so far into the forest and at so late an hour. I asked them about it, thinking perhaps there were wolves or maybe even some lizardman tribe nearby. I knew the lizards lived not too far away to the north, but were pretty sure they usually stayed around the marshes. I was right in this and they were not what the villagers feared. I soon realized it was something entirely different." A short horror story in first person. It's about the bard, Teilan Raan as he comes to the small village Goldwoods, and finds something in the forest there. This story is old, I finished it back in 2011. But I still think it's a good enough story. I hope you'll like it too. I don't normally write in first person, it's too problematic for me.
