This case became the beginning of Gu Xuan and her working side by side once again. He is a criminal investigator, accustomed to closing in on the truth through evidence and logic; she is a forensic pathologist, speaking for the dead with her scalpel and autopsy reports. They stand on the same line of investigation, yet remain separated by a distance that is both restrained and dangerous. The investigation does not go smoothly. Discrepancies surface time and again between autopsy conclusions and crime scene analysis- not mistakes, but judgments deliberately left unspoken. Gu Xuan quickly begins to notice that her reports always contain a deliberate blank space. As if waiting for an answer, or quietly testing how far he is willing to go. They move toward the same truth from opposite ends, drawing closer, yet holding back. The closer they get to the truth, the harder it becomes to ignore each other. And as all the clues slowly converge- a long-buried case begins to surface. The truth has never belonged to the case alone. Some will pay the price for it. And some hearts will quietly lose control.

It always bothered me that they killed that medical examiner just because he was in the way.
