Nara has spent her entire life learning how not to need anyone. Growing up in the foster system taught her to be frugal, independent, and careful about where she placed her trust. Now, at twenty-seven, she has a budding career, a growing place in her church, and a quiet life she can call her own. Then there is Matt. At forty-three, Matt is everything Nara has learned not to expect from people: kind, dependable, faithful, and still single ten years after losing his wife. He is also her church's accountant. And, increasingly, the man whose eyes seem to linger on her a little too long. When an ordinary church potluck ends with an unexpected kiss, Nara can't help wondering if perhaps God has finally answered the question she's carried all her life: 'Where do I belong?' But love doesn't erase the past. And finding a person to love is not always the same thing as finding home. Sometimes, before you can find your way home, you have to discover what home really means. A Christian romance about faith, love, grief, family, and the courage to belong.

Taking on a foster kid is a process that not only alters the lives of the foster in care but also those of the adults as well. When the child is in care, he/she can have a history of trauma and loss or instability. Families need to be prepared in ways that exceed ordinary parenting to meet these challenges. Foster carer training is crucial in making people realise emotional needs or behaviour patterns and what past memories in them could do to children. These programmes emphasise the necessity to provide healthy and supportive conditions, within which young adults are able to feel secure and appreciated. Equally significant is the assistance given at the initial phases. Interesting activities are used to help new carers in learning how to better communicate, develop trust, and create secure bonds and attachments. With fostering carer training in place before the placement of a child into their household, a family can do so by knowing how to proceed on a confident and resilient path forward. Finally, this preparation is not merely a response to short-term needs but as a set-up towards possibly brighter tomorrows. When carers are ready, they become better able to offer stability and love, and the children grow into secure and confident people. Foreword In the delicate cadence of poetry, we often find the purest expression of the human spirit-a place where words become art, emotions transform into verses, and stories are woven with threads of sincerity. "Adopted by Destiny" is a collection of poems that takes us on an evocative journey through the life of Previn, a soul who not only survived the complex landscape of the foster care system but emerged as a testament to resilience and the triumph of the human spirit. Within these verses, we encounter the essence of Previn's existence-a life shaped by the paradoxes of adversity and triumph, despair and hope, abandonment and acceptance. As we delve into these poetic narratives, we are invited to witness the beauty and complexity of a life that defied the odds, transforming a vulnerable child into a flourishing, productive individual. "Adopted by Destiny" is not merely a collection of poems; it is a chronicle of a remarkable odyssey. Each stanza, each rhyme, and each metaphor carries the weight of Previn's experiences, painting a vivid portrait of a life that navigated the tumultuous waters of uncertainty to find its true purpose. - P.

His name meant Heaven's Child. He had grey-blue eyes and a big smile. Big enough to rival a certain green-head's. He loved his sister, his dog, and his mother. Braved the danger that was his father. Eventually, fate stole these loved ones from him, and in the original concept... he became a monster. But... dream with me here. Let's take a few steps back and write him a new story. One where he was rescued by a teenage hero, fostered by one who'd known his grandmother personally, and given a family. Before there was Deku, before there was Eri... There was Tenko Shimura. Is that a nice concept? I'd like to think so. Happy Holidays!

Chandler Ducrot has spent seventeen years in the foster care system alongside his older brother. Since the age of ten, he has found himself entangled in frequent brushes with the law due to running away from less-than-desirable foster homes. One night, he is picked up by the police and placed in a foster home that is described to him as the best emergency placement anyone at the station has ever seen. He discovers that his new foster parents are both employed at a prestigious boarding school where his foster father serves as the dean of students, and his foster mother teaches English. Now living at the boarding school, Chandler finds himself facing an entirely new set of challenges. Larke Leighton is assigned to mentor Chandler. Sent to Cresthaven Academy by her parents after their divorce, it is the only place that feels like home now. While both struggle to open up due to their troubled pasts, their shared experiences gradually create an unbreakable bond. Chandler views the school as a temporary refuge until he can break free from the system, while Larke is terrified to graduate and be alone in the world. As their connection deepens, Chandler and Larke navigate their respective challenges, discovering that love and trust can heal wounds that once seemed permanent.
