Melody and Micah Whitley have built a life together in the small town of Valley Falls. They fell in love in college, where Micah was a star baseball pitcher-until a shoulder injury ended his dreams of the major leagues. Melody is used to standing beside the people she loves, adjusting when plans change. She and her sister grew up in foster care, and when Dana passed away, Melody stepped into motherhood when they adopted her niece, Daisy. When Micah agrees to help his childhood friend's sister, Audra, and her young son, Ben, he sees it as an opportunity to pay back an old debt. Micah invests deeply in Ben's life, but as his attention shifts, Melody and Daisy are pushed aside, and the marriage begins to strain under the weight of unspoken grief, unmet needs, and blurred boundaries. Note: There are mentions of infertility, adoption, foster care, grief, addiction/self-harm and death of a non-main character. There is no physical cheating, but there is some OW drama and emotional betrayal/infidelity. Christian and faith themes woven throughout.

Sixteen-year-old "model Christian" LeAnna Daniels is rooted in God's Word. She knows she's His Child. There's nothing she can't handle with His help. She knows every rule there is to know in the Bible. She knows exactly how to witness. Or so she thinks. Then her family takes in Rita, a wild, reckless fifteen-year-old who was orphaned and placed in foster care at the age of seven. Rita tests LeAnna in ways she never thought God would test her in. When Rita makes a terrible decision and pays the consequences, all LeAnna wants to do is scream at her, and she doesn't understand why. It's a lesson she never thought she would ever need. It's a lesson on how to love someone. Fifteen-year-old "juvenile delinquent" Rita MacKenzie is mad at the world. It's not hard to see why. A fire killed her parents when she was seven, she was separated from her siblings, and a lifetime of trauma and abuse follows her. Then she's sent to what the judge calls her last shot before shes shipped to juvie. And possibly her last chance at a family. No one wants a teenager, after all. She hates it. Strict parents and a foster sister who's constantly trying to shove religion down her throat might just be the last straw for her. But just as she begins to learn that their love- and God's love- has no strings attached, a terrible mistake has her questioning everything, especially God's love. It's a lesson Rita's been neglecting for years. It's a lesson on how to accept love, especially when you know you don't deserve it.

POV-Wolfe'Gang I take in a deep breath, ready for another blow from my father. Right now I'm sitting with my back against the wall and my legs in front of me and a blank expression. He doesn't like a reaction, it makes him mad. So after the punch to my stomach comes, I just breath. No wincing or gasping, just breathing. I take many deep breaths but that's the only thing my dad is okay with, unless he's really mad. Like now.... "Another school, Wolfe'Gang! How'd you do it this time? Stabbed a kid!" he shouts and kicks me in the ribs. I hold in a cry of pain by biting my lip so hard I taste blood. Instead tears start to slowly leak from my eyes. "Don't you dare cry!" he yells in my face then back hands me across the cheek. "I'm sorry," I say quietly. "What was that?" he asks. "I said I'm sorry!" I say louder. He kicks me in the chest this time and I fall over, clutching my chest, trying to get the air back in me. But of course he doesn't like reaction and he begins kicking me more. Then he pulls out his pocket knife and begins cutting me. But they're small cuts, just enough to cause pain. I hold in yells and I try to hold back my tears as well. "Now you need a new school. We've had to move for you to go to school! The only reason you go is because its against the law other wise!" he screams and slashes my bare chest. He always makes me take off my shirt. "For easier access," he always says. After twenty more minutes, he's finished and goes to watch TV. I just lay on the ground, breathing. Until eventually I pass out.

Years ago, the world changed. People began developing abilities-quirks-that defied explanation. At first, they were rare curiosities, but soon toddlers everywhere displayed them, from harmless tricks to dangerous powers. Heroes and villains leapt from fiction into reality. Power became currency, reshaping society. Heroes rose to fame like movie stars, while quirks were ranked, coveted, and even engineered. Parents designed their children for strength, beauty, and advantage. But not everyone was blessed. Twenty percent of humanity remained Quirkless, left behind in a world obsessed with power. They became society's forgotten-the reminder of its ruthless progress. Beneath the shining image of heroes, shadows grew. Greed, corruption, and desperation thrived in the alleys and backrooms the cameras never showed. Kaizen was born into that darkness. Quick as the wind, she would never remember her mother, who died shortly after giving birth-grief over a lost love consuming her. That left Kaizen with a father who could provide shelter, food, and clothes, but never affection. His love was absent, his patience short, his anger quick to ignite. When sober, he ignored her; when drunk, she became the outlet for his frustrations. At eleven, with her wild white hair in messy braids, Kaizen suffered the worst of it-a shattered bottle to the head in a drunken rage. She didn't wake for hours. Faced with the weight of what he'd done, her father called the police. The court case came and went, and the next day, he vanished, leaving Kaizen alone in a world she had no idea how to survive. A variety of dark topics, any chapter with severely concerning topics will have a TW at the beginning of the chapter. Book is in its first stages and changes to chapters/key details are likely.:)

Following the news of the death of their former old-world wealthy abusive foster mother Lady Veronica Aswell-Abernathy, five young men find themselves drawn back to the estate that had been their unwanted and only home since becoming orphaned and neglected due to the deaths or outright abandonment by their respective parents and troubled pasts. The boys had suffered their fair share of abuses before coming to her care but their treatment had been turned up several notches once in her care. Of the five unwanted boys, Dr. Michael Brentwood Byron Davidson had been her favorite son and The House Boy, replacing former favorite and right-hand Flynt Myers upon his initial arrival causing a long-standing hate-filled rivalry between the two oldest of the five boys. Now many years removed from Aswell's roof, each of the five had endured different treatment that led to their subsequent paths in life with some becoming more successful than the others but all dragged back into their own personal hell in the wake of her passing and the reading of the wealthy older woman's last will.
