On Naruto's 12th birthday, the annual fox hunt commences like usual. During that period of time, Naruto goes through an epiphany and realizes his purpose. Note: This is a Naruto songfic one-shot based off the song "What Do I Live For" by Fabian Secon. I don't own Naruto or "What Do I Live For'. All rights go to their proper owners.

Naruto takes a mission on his birthday to avoid the fox hunt, but instead gets landed with something worse, read as Naruto hides his struggles and the truth, but everyone knows... The truth always comes out eventually (Sakura bashing) (Contains suicidal thoughts, self harm etc.)

Losing his eyes in an early stage of his life, Naruto just wishes to see once more. However, our young Uzumaki knows wishing on a falling star is nothing more than false idealism. Let's embark on a journey with Naruto Uzumaki. A boy clouded by mystery. He is far from any open book. In the upcoming weeks, naruto will be turning 15 and another fox hunt will take place like countless times before but this year it might not happen. This can be a blessing or a curse. This is because naruto is going on a mission with the Rookie 12. How will he learn to cope with the pain and memories that threatened to drown him? After all, Naruto is just a weapon in the eye of the people of Konoha. ON HIATUS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

The Rookie 9, Team Gai, and their respective senseis are going out on a bonding, "get to know each other," vacation trip for the week. Luckily for Naruto, this is happening around the time of the Kyuubi's Defeat Festival, so he'll be away when the villagers try to play their favorite game known as "the fox hunt." Naruto is nervous and hopes that this trip won't reveal too much of himself. They are headed to a cabin in the Forest of Wandering Souls, just at the border of the Land of Fire. Legend has it that the forest holds the spirits of those who have died in the Land of Fire, and have "one last wish" before they can be at peace. What if legend wasn't so far fetched as it seemed, and the spirits of the Forest of Wandering Souls lingered in its depths. What if one soul, is seeking Naruto to fulfill their last wish, and would meeting this spirit reveal Naruto's secrets? DISCLAIMER: I don't own Naruto.
