A paradox manifests, acrid and hypocritical, Promote affection, yet our pursuits feel cynical. This world we inhabit, a chessboard we taint, Trading pawns for King's in a desolate campaign. The soul within mutters, a subdued refrain, While we stalk phantasms, bound by opulent constraints. Eroding in the grasp like sand in a tensing fist, We Lionize fortune, oblivious to old beliefs. Beyond embellished grins, candor conceals and grieves, Enshrouded in drapes of chicanery, no one believes. When the curtain drops, you depart with no spoils, But the transient episodes fostered and moils. Legacy like the mirror, reflecting what you teach- How can it flourish if your own terms you breach? The mirage remains, a subtle, fine-tuned snare, The veneer unveils casualties, beyond compare. Yearn to reverse the bygones when there's no time left to spare, Erased by the gusts, the sand dunes can't bear.

I suppose I have found it easier to identify with the characters who verge upon hysteria, who were frightened of life, who were desperate to reach out to another person. But these seemingly fragile people are the strong people really.
