In a world where magic was buried and forgotten, it's starting to wake up. Selene Vireya, a curious young historian, finds a glowing crystal-and it speaks. Inside is a starborn prince with a warning: The Serpentfire is coming back. To stop it, Selene must journey through cursed lands, face ancient beasts, and uncover the truth about her past-one tied to a cosmic love, a hidden bloodline, and a war erased from history. Magic. Memory. Destiny. Selene must decide: Will she destroy the Serpentfire... or become it? _________________________________________________________________ All characters, places, events, creatures, and organizations mentioned in this story are purely the product of the author's imagination. In the Beforelife, before the souls were born, they were briefed about how their lives would turn out. If they deemed their happiness would outweigh the pain they would endure in their lives, they would be born. If they refused the proposal, they would be sent to roam mindlessly over the Neitherworld until their names were called again. This was the Fate of Grace Adler, and other souls she saw in the Beforelife. - TW: mentions of violence and torture, rape and prostitution, war, suicidal thoughts.

Free-will or destiny? You'll have to decide for yourself. ------------ Hi. I'm learning how to write and I want you to join me on my journey. I wanted to be an author when I was a kid but save for a few short stories I was never able to really complete a book and all but gave up. I found some of my old writing recently and started to think I should try again for real this time. I figure posting online will keep me accountable and maybe I'll get some feedback. And if anything at least my characters will have a home other than my attic. Also! If you have any short story ideas you'd like to see come to life message me and I'll write it the best I can and compile them into another book on my page (with credits of course). So you can get a story and I can get practice. If you made it this far, thanks for listening and if you'd like to join me I'd love to have you.

Cyrene never set a paw outside of Abandoned Atra. For the past year and a half of her life she had never said a word that wasn't heard by her brother or sister. In fact the closest she had gotten to the other glarings, and out of Abandoned Atra, was dreaming about the day she could join them. On an island there lives a haven of creatures. Believed to be superior, the island was divided up into three nations: the felines, canines, and birds. Atra is set up so that any feline, of any age, may switch glarings once in their life if they feel the need to. Cyrene, along with her brother, Ares, and her blind sister, Otium, can't wait for the day. However, it all changes when Cyrene is told that she belongs to the glaring, Veilded. She soon is pulled into a world of magic, murder, and not-so mythical necromancers. Cyrene finds herself weaved into an inescapable prophecy, that doesn't just involve her and her family, but the future of Atra too.

I like the idea of believing there's a higher power, whether it be God, fate, destiny or a grand design and plan, surely we, humans and life can't just be random? There must be something more? But on the other side of the coin maybe we use fate as an excuse- maybe we are more in control of our fate than we like to admit. But we're afraid to affirm this fact because it means we're responsible for the mistakes and wrong choices we've made. But if we're more in control of our own fate than we realise- then we have infinite potential. This poems about all these 'big question' musings...
