“Darkness. The whole world is in darkness again.” The voice of the radio broadcaster rang out. “Along with drought. Don’t they just go so perfectly hand-in-hand, Barbara?”
“Yes they do, Stan. While the matter’s at hand, scientists are currently trying to find a way to preserve…energy…and water.”
“Both?” Stan sounds astounded.
“Yes, Stan. Both. They even found a name for it.”
“Oh? What’s that?”
“The Ice Modus Operandi, Stan. The Ice Modus Operandi.”
The Ice Modus Operandi is the new way to live in the world. Everything that could potentially be considered an extra of a supply of something, gets frozen. Water, electricity, food, plants. Anything anyone can imagine. Scientists are freezing extra supplies for later use, in case the World’s destruction comes again.
But what the public doesn’t know, is that the government is doing secret experiments. They’re mutating and rearranging the cells of living organisms, making them better, more powerful. In hopes that Earth will be itself again, new and improved.
Connie and her group of “friends”, Alex, Mason, and Colin, are stowed away in a safe house, only after having their memories taken away from them. Colin is presumably the first of his kind, a mutant, but his memory was taken away, and replaced with something else. Along with his witchy partners, Alex and Mason, who don’t have any recollection of their past before the safe house.
When they were hidden, away from the vulnerable, public eye, they all got capricious, and fights were beginning to destroy the house meant to protect them. So the government gathered up humans and tested them to see who would be the perfect fit to be confined with them all, all the super humans, before having to wipe their memories thoroughly.
Connie will be the one to lead them to their malevolent future - and past.
