Prologue
I should've known freshman year wasn't going to be simple.
The campus looked calm in the early morning light, but I could already feel the undercurrent of secrets, whispers, and things people pretended didn't exist. Everyone's pretending. I'm pretending. Even the walls feel like they're watching, keeping score.
That text came the first night I moved in:
I didn't expect to see you here.
I didn't know who sent it. I didn't know why. But I knew one thing: my "fresh start" was already over.
College was supposed to be freedom. It was supposed to be exciting.
Instead, it felt like the beginning of something I wasn't ready for.
And sometimes, beginnings are more dangerous than endings.
