Claude Frollo prepares for Esmeralda's burning but finds himself unable to attempt such a feat, his heart protesting.

Here's just a quick story I wanted to write based on Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame 1996 version. What if Frollo had not fallen to his death in the end of the movie? What if the gypsies had managed to fight of the guards and capture Frollo after the battle? How would they have acted and what would they have done to him? This story is just a one-shot but I hope you enjoy it.

When Esmeralda chooses a life with Frollo over the pyre everyday every moment every meal becomes a battle especially with the fate of Phoebus constantly hanging over her head.

Esmeralda always thought of herself as strong. She prided herself on the strength she possessed from living such a difficult life. But when Frollo shows up with a surprise visit and something from her past as blackmail, can Esmeralda be as strong as she believed herself to be ?
