Technically, she just didn't sign up for any intramural sport in time, and chess was the only slot left. She didn't know the game, not really - but Freya never did anything halfway. If she was going to represent the school, then she was going to win. Within days, she learned chess as if it were as easy as picking up a pencil. Meanwhile, you - Y/N Leonora Soledad Villanueva - proud prodigy and undefeated chess genius of Section E, were ready to collect another trophy. Naturally, the showdown - especially since Section E and A have such a rivalrous tension - were all attended by the students of the sections the two represented. Halfway through the match, something shifted. Your fingers brushed at the timer-brief, but enough to notice. Freya looked up, and for a second, neither of you moved. She flipped her hair like always, but this time, you found yourself watching. The game was intense, every move calculated, yet the glances you exchanged felt just as deliberate. Unbeknownst to you both, Drew, the class clown with a gambling problem, stood up and whispered to both the sections. While you two couldn't notice the romantic tension, they did. Cristina Mercedes Fernandez, wrongfully ejected from her high school in Madrid for "behavioural-misconduct", was deported to the Philippines to live with her aunt. Yes, deported. Her retraction from the international school of Madrid- in exchange for a clean record- had sketchy written all over it, yet her parents saw fit to further punish her and had her transferred to HVIS, of which her aunt was an alumnus (this grand idea was a result of a harsh Filipina mother and a scheming busybody of an older sister). As if to make matters worse, her clean record doesn't even do her any good. Cristina winds up in section-E, the 'ass-end' of HVIS, meant for 'troubled kids' with bad records. Was it a mistake that she ended up there? Or was fate just doing its thing? This story is an adaptation of "Ang mutya ng section e" or "The gem of section e", based on my experience of the filmed series and NOT the book (I haven't read the whole thing). I'll be adding some original events, but this story will still follow most of the original work's plot.
