Just an old story

you ever miss someone and have no clue who you miss and feel guilty even though you know you did the right thing that's fun isn't it

"i know i'm going to walk out of this okay, because i get to walk out of the room and have my friends waiting for me in the hall. he's going back to no one. I'm going to be okay. he won't."

A poem I made in the second winter of quarantine, when I had an epiphany that I was holding onto my (only) friends, even though I had outgrown them. I kept them around because I didn't want to face loneliness, but it came a point that I felt even more lonely being with them because they progressively felt foreign to me the more i exchanged my energy.
