This is the story of how I died. Don't worry, this is actually a very fun story and the truth is, it isn't even mine. This is the story of an elf named Freiren and it starts with a flower. --She wasn't afraid of being alone. She was afraid of getting used to someone who wouldn't stay.--

In a fantasy world plagued by demons, monsters, and magic, Y/n, an immortal swordsman with an undying curse crosses paths with an ageless elf mage, Frieren, and her group. To find a way to rid himself of the curse, he joins them in their trip to Aureole. On the way, he grows fond of the elf, though she was never the one for romantics. Will he change that? I don't own Frieren or the art.

In Frieren as a Retired Mage Killer...

Melrose The Magnificent was, as his name implies, a magnificent wizard who found himself joining the heroes party of Himmel once he was able to identify the location of the legendary mage, Frieren. After completing their goal of killing the great demon lord, Himmel had just one request for him: Watch and take care of Frieren. When the time comes to pass for the late hero, Melrose must muster up the courage to continue his promise as he embarks on a journey with Frieren so that she may get to speak with their dear friend once again. With many new obstacles to face and new friends discovered along the way, it's definitely going to be a very interesting journey for Melrose to endure.

(Male reader story, LOOOONG description ahead. TL;DR at the end lol) The MC is a demon with lingering memories of a past he'd long forgotten. Memories of a voice and face. An attachment he feels he shouldn't have. This person was special to him. So special, that years after their passing, he finds himself wondering... "Why? Why did she smile, why did she get angry, why did she care...if none of it mattered anyway? If she knew she would die and her short life would amount to nothing? All of that effort, all those wasted emotions...for what?" Questions like these lead him to try the things she liked, experiencing the moments that brought her so many emotions, only to feel...nothing. None of it felt meaningful. Why? What was so different about HER that made it seem important? After spending years trying to understand, he eventually decided it was time to leave. There was no point in wasting anymore time, none of this mattered anyway. Then, hundreds of years later, as he'd seemingly given up and abandoned the life he grew up with, a peculiar encounter with an elven mage intrigued him. The distrust in her body language and directly hostile attitude towards his every word...her hate seemed so genuine. So human, that he wanted to learn how she learned to feel. Why she hates, why she protects. What made it all worth it? And to his confusion, despite her hostility, she agreed to show him. Perhaps this was just a ploy to kill him when he's vulnerable. It likely was. But little did he know, this encounter would eventually unravel the very core of his being, revealing something both believed wasn't possible. Something genuine, from a demon whom was never meant to feel. TL;DR: This is a story about a demon learning to feel human emotions that he shouldn't have, due to having a different life than others. It will mostly follow the story of Frieren, with the exception of a few things I have planned for MC. Demons are still evil and I will treat it as such.
