It had been four months. Four months since their return to the Shire. And yet, it had felt like years. There they all were, sitting in The Green Dragon. Frodo exhaled, taking in his surroundings. Merry and Pippin danced around, their arms linked, laughing as if there wasn't a single care in the world. Frodo glanced at the beautiful, gleaming golden rings on both their fingers. They had gotten married two months ago. And Sam had proposed to Rosie only yesterday, who had happily agreed. Now, they sat in the corner of the room, giggling and whispering. As Frodo glanced at them, he felt a tiny lump forming in his throat. No. Tiny isn't the right way to put it. And, once again, Frodo Baggins has managed to lie to himself. Samwise Gamgee, with his short red curls and his kelly eyes. He was always so close to him, no matter how far away he was. Yet, now that Sam was in the corner of the room, laughing so hard his throat would shortly go dry, Frodo had never felt so distant. He knew he had to be happy for Sam. But why did it feel like the hardest thing in the world? ... Frodo Baggins struggles with conflicting feelings about Samwise Gamgee's marriage to Rosie Cottons. Samwise Gamgee has returned alone from his dangerous trip to Mordor. Back in the Shire, he is constantly urged by the other Hobbits to settle all sorts of affairs. On day, he is called to identify a mysterious prisoner. What if the grief of the last three years could finally come to an end?
