Tsuyu Asui, born with a mutation quirk, feels useless. Izuku Midoriya, born without a quirk, also feels inadequate. These childhood friends aspire to become heroes, but neither of them knows that a mysterious person will not only reveal the true meaning of the word "hero," but also the past of one of them.

It all happened a few weeks ago. No one's sure why or how it happened but it did. U.A. has been split right down the middle. All U.A. students have been evauated and seperated into two groups. Hope, and Despair. Hope is for the students who have been tasked with greatness in their future. The top of the top and the less angry, bitter, jealous, of the bunch. Despair is the exact opposite of hope, given up on by the school and -according to the press- sicoity. The children are updated each week, some switching to Hope or Despair. Neither side is allowed to interact with each other because of the new rules and friends are split up. The gang has grown apart over the weeks and thing can't stop getting worse.

This is a story about how y/n became the #1 hero. Y/N has always wanted to be a hero. It was her dream ever since she was a child. She has trained her whole life. Her mom is the #3 hero. She is like Shoto's dad: tough. Ever since y/n was little her mom made her train to be the top hero. She didn't mind at first cause she wanted to be the #1 hero anyway. This is going to be a black reader fanfic for all my beautiful black queens🤩. Also I want to say that I already wrote this story like 2 years ago and just had the random urge to edit out all the cringy stuff and change the story to a black reader fanfic.... because I'm black BNHA x reader is going to be every character shipped with y/n and just random stories where they're around. So one day your with bakugo the next your with denki, it's gonna be a fun little thing but it also has stories about fighting and focusing on you.
