A modern-day forensic profiler, Avery Cross, inexplicably awakens in Noctis Arcana as Detective Alphus Vane, retaining memories from Earth. Alphus soon discovers latent Beyonder-like abilities: he can perceive "Astral Threads," the lifelines that bind souls to fate. By tugging those threads, he can glimpse past transgressions or temporarily amplify his senses to superhuman levels. Every use of his power frays his humanity, edging him closer to demonic corruption.
