Loki and Tony Stark meet in 2008. They become friends. They fall in love. Then Tony is kidnapped and Iron Man is born. Thor is going to be crowned and Loki intervenes From then on, it just gets complicated. OR, Loki and Tony meet before the invasion in New York and the whole story of the MCU is changed.

Tony Stark signed the Accords but then got written off as unstable after having a few outbursts at his tower from his flashbacks from his fight with Steve and Bucky. In other words the fight that left him freezing and half to death with no way to leave, until Black Panther found him. So S.H.I.E.L.D. seized his possessions. Now the only way be can still be Iron Man is under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s strict rules. One if which is no fraternizing of any kind which anybody affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D. but one technician catches his eye.

It was a discussion they were always going to have, even if they wanted to ignore it. The fact was, Loki was immortal and Tony was not. Will he accept the golden apple? Loki is exceptionally bored. That is the only reason he wrote to the man of iron. Not because he harbored some level of fascination with the man, nor the fact that he was just a bit enamored with the idea of Ironman. Not at all.
