DaddyKalb
THE GIRL I DIDN'T KNOW I LOVED
A Daddy Kalb's True Love Story
I kept her photograph in my wallet for years.
Not because she was my girlfriend.
Not because she had given it to me.
Not even because she knew my name.
The truth is, when I first met her, I was too busy staring at her beautiful face to introduce myself.
At twenty, I was simply a middle child from a hardworking Filipino family-an engineering student, a part-time helper at our little sari-sari store working for free a disadvantage working for your family, and proudly single since birth. π
Then one ordinary day, a girl walked into our store looking for my mother.
She needed a uniform sewn.
She didn't know my name.
I didn't know hers.
We exchanged no promises, no phone numbers, and barely a word.
She left as quickly as she had arrived.
I thought that was the end of it.
Years later, I saw her again-not in person, but in a photograph.
I should have forgotten her.
Instead, I kept that photograph in my wallet.
Why?
I didn't know then.
She was already living a life of her own. I was trying to figure out mine. There would be wrong turns, unexpected friendships, family expectations, heartbreak, overseas journeys, and a distance that seemed determined to keep us apart.
But sometimes life has a funny way of bringing two people together.
And sometimes...
the person you thought was just a stranger turns out to be the person you've been waiting for.
A funny, nostalgic, and inspirational Filipino love story about family, dreams, timing, choices-and the mysterious ways destiny can stitch two lives together.
But why did I keep the photograph?
You'll have to read until the last chapter to find out. β€οΈ
