I leant my head against the wall and exhaled. I couldn't tell whether it was day or night. It didn't matter. Staring into the complete darkness, my fingers traced the ruts and groves of the floor. I already knew every crease, every fold of the stone. It was just to keep me awake. It was easier to bear when I was awake. They had upped the dosage before I had escaped and my body had needed weeks to remove it from my system. Finally we would be free. Thick coils of metal wrapped around my arms and legs so that I couldn't move. I felt her stir in the back of my mind, and uneasiness settled in my stomach. It was starting.

I took a deep breath. The cameras flashed. "Well, I sort of... I might have fallen in love with someone I shouldn't have." Pyro was always the black sheep in her class. She had deep dark red hair, and almost golden eyes, making her the target of being teased. The only escape was to go with her dad, a volcanologist, to volcanoes and lava lakes. But when she goes with her father to a lava lake, she's thrown into a new world, where she has to do things she never thought was possible.

Short story about an old friend of Cassian (Sarah J Maas character, Court of Silver flames) returning into his life abruptly. It just came to me a little while after reading the book. i'm sad to say, i hardly know where i was going with it.
