There also aren't that many long Gaara x Naruto fanfics out there either, which tbh is kind of surprising. Naruto was now back to Konoha after his training with Pervy-Sage. There, he reunites with his friends and learns that only he is still a Genin. Later on, he is told about Gaara being kidnapped, and immediately agrees to go on a mission to save him. He could not let one of his friends down! While on his and the rest of Team Kakashi's journey to Suna, he thinks about the one tail jinciuriki. He remembers his tragic back story, how much he suffered and he refuses to let him suffer any more! That's how friends are, after all. But... Not really a story, kinda hate it but it's just a headcanon I have. Some of my worst writing tbh BUT Naruto is trying to get Gaara to smile. That's about it :)

Sometimes he heaved up flowers for minutes. His skin a sickly color, sweat glistening on his skin as he panted for air. He could feel it in him now. When he breathed deeply he could feel the petals tickle his lungs. But it also reminded him of Naruto. As long as he had this flower he would have his love for the blonde boy. He would wait.

Older story from last year, my first Gaanaru fiction I ever wrote A Christmas party is in Konoha, probably organised by Ino, every ally and friend of the leaf is invited. Including Gaara. Gaara doesn't enjoy the loud all too much but a familiar, boisterous blond comes up to Gaara. He shows Gaara a strange plant, a mistletoe ! (They do not kiss in the story, unfortunately)

It's Gaara's birthday and he is feeling more alone than ever. He tries to do something horrible. But with the help of Naruto he finds happiness. Naruto and Gaara become good friends. Both are oblivious that the other has romantic feelings for the other. Until one day, the information that they are friends and happy, ends up in the wrong hands.

Naruto Uzumaki works at a flower shop with his siblings and papa. On the outside looking in Naruto's life looks amazing, he isn't rich but he does have a good source of income, he's engaged to Sasuke Uchiha whose a great businessman, and while Sasuke is rich, both due to his parents and his own hard work Naruto refuses for them to live like rich people. Over a year Naruto had noticed that Sasuke has seemed a bit distant, and that made Naruto feel alone, sad, so he decided to make a new friend on social media. Gaara works in a bakery with his siblings, although he doesn't really like sweets he does have a passion for baking, his bakery is one of the most popular bakeries in Konoha, and because of how busy it is that means business is very good for him and his siblings. His whole life he had to feel what it was like to be unwanted, so imagine his surprise when he accepts the chat request. How will one simple chat between the two boys blossom, once they decide to meet in person will that make them closer or stop their blossoming friendship. This story does start off as a slight Sasuke x Naruto story.
