Aofie Faeryn doesn't know who she is. Her earliest memory: staring up at the iron gates of the city of Dóchas as a child, with nothing but her mother's ring on a chain around her neck and a leatherbound book of Fae tales. In a city caged by towering walls built to protect the people from a dark force thought to lurk in the woods beyond, what will happen when Aofie's curiosity takes hold? *** Many years ago, a powerful Fae and alchemist by the name of Acheron wrought havoc upon the land of Abhainn and turned his own kin into creatures of air, earth, fire, and water. A human general by the name of Killian O'Dubhghail ventured to settle in the fertile lands of the South and found himself and his people in the middle of a war with creatures thought only to be legends; he saw victory brought to his people and established the city of Dóchas, 'hope'. His people named him their Ardrí, his first official act; build a wall around the city to protect his people from the return of Acheron. *** Copyright: All Rights Reserved

Within the Realm of R'adania, no one is truly safe... Many centuries ago, legends say that the Kingdom of Caonach was blessed by the Deities of the Otherworld, causing the two realms to live in harmony with one-another. Within this time of peace, an era of Technology and Magick was created that was thought to only be tangible within folklore. Upon hearing the talk of such power, however, the corrupt rival kingdom of Klaasile sought to obtain the power kept within the walls of Caonach, communing with the darker forces that resided within the deeper wood of the Otherworld in order to try and enslave the Coanach's Kingdom and her people. Thus, the War of Embers had begun. In order to have an upper-hand within the war, a secret society labeled the Court of Embers was created, comprised of a group of the most elite soldiers within Caonach, thought to have the power to commune directly with the Deities themselves. Many years passed and at an empasse, the two Kingdoms finally came to a truce, agreeing that the Gateway to the Otherworld would be sealed. Such choices forever trapped both the Malevolent and Benevolent spirits back into the realm they belong to. With no purpose left, the Keepers of Ash vanished from history, never to be heard from again from civilization. A hundred years have passed since the end of the War. When infamous twenty-one year old criminal Aadya Byrne runs away from her hometown in fear of being caught by the authorities, she discovers that the evils that once dwelled within the wood from the Otherworld are present once more, seeking to finish what they once started centuries ago. With the help of Laeth, the troubled leader of the lost Keepers of Ash, the two seek to establish the Court of Cinders once more, before it's too late.

** Wattpad Featured Story!** A young girl arouses the wrath of an ancient Scottish water spirit who takes her brother's soul in revenge. To save him Brigid must journey through the Shadow realm, begging help and proving herself to each of the totem animal spirits of Britain. Steeped in British mythology and animal lore, The Shadowkeeper is a modern fairy tale written with animation in mind but could also be live action/CGI - lots of CGI! Author's Note: Back in 2005, The Shadowkeeper came heartbreakingly close to being sold to major production companies thanks to good showing in the three screenwriting competitions I submitted to*. A whirlwind trip to Hollywood for an awards night followed by meetings with managers and production companies had my little heart singing (literally one night, at an Etta James concert at the Hollywood Bowl!) Then reality hit. All of the feedback I received was the same: We love it but there's no audience for adventure stories with a female protagonist, change Brigid to a boy and we'll negotiate. Call me stubborn (the two managers offering me representation did) but I didn't think that was a legitimate "note", I thought it was simple sexism and I refused. Since then, The Shadowkeeper has been in the proverbial drawer but I love Brigid, I think she's a badass little eight year old and I've never given up on her. It's now ten years later and the attitude to female protagonists appears to be changing so I'm thinking of submitting The Shadowkeeper again but first I thought I'd pop it up here and see what Wattpadders think. If you like it, I do hope you'll vote and/or comment to let me know whether you'd like to see it on the screen! Happy reading! Darcy. *Competition Results: Finalist, ScriptP.I.M.P.
