Narutoék a chunin vizsga előtti napon, miután Naruto, Natsumi és Shikamaru megismerték Gaara titkát, és elhagyták a kórházat egy ismeretlen helyen találják magukat. Ugyanez a helyzet a többi genin csapattal, a senseieikkel, a szüleikkel, a Kagékkal, Orochimaruval és az embereivel, az Akatsukival, a többi fontos szereplővel és az Öt Ninja falu közül néhány ninjával.
