In the year 2040 (during the time period between SPD and Time force) an evil intergalactic terrorist organization known as the Monstar syndicate consisting of some of the baddest alien criminals and warlords in the galaxy has been draining energy from the cores of living worlds in order to resurrect their original leader Zodiax whom had been slain thousands of years ago by the 12 galactic knights, the original chosen champions of the Nova crystals. in order to combat this new threat an Interstellar ranger academy headed by Commander Draco of Space Patrol Gamma (a space exploration-based branch of SPD) was created to train the next generation of Power Rangers, Draco hand-picks his nine top students of the space academy to become the new champions of the Nova crystals: the defenders of the stars, Power Rangers: Supernova!
