10 years after the fall of Galbatorix and the start of the rule of Queen Nasauda, the dragon riders return and they bring exciting news. There is a new opening to be a rider. Maria is 18 and still live in the city of Tierm at an orphanage. She helps out with chores and runs errands. Whenever she hears of the riders coming to Teirm to find a new dragon rider, she becomes excited. Then she heard that when the egg entered the gates of Teirm, it started to shake rapidly. The old farm was quiet as it stood proudly in the light from the morning sun and the only thing you could hear was the singing of the birds and the whistle of the wind. But as the sun climbed up the sky the sound of the perpetrating village reached the farm and it's inhabitants. The old wooden cabin built a few yards away from the proudly grey farm covered four family members from the cold breeze of the spring. From the outside the only thing you could see was the calm and sleeping house, but the truth was far from it. The four members of the family was the two parents; Susan, who's grandmother was a spy for Galbatorix and burned the dark kings lies into her daughters mind, who in turn burned the lies into her daughters head. The father, George, was a man that hated the dragons and their riders as much as his wife and he loved his son and said wife with all he had. Then there was Brad, their 19-year-old son, who had taking the dislike for dragons and their riders so that he now loathed them and what they stood for. He loathed them as much as he loathed his 'sister'.  Then there was Jennifer, the 18-year-old girl, who was cheerful and always had a smile on her face, but behind closed doors she was a girl broken and abused to her breaking point by her so called family. So to say that the family who lived on the farm was a happy one was far from true and in the near future the village would get the knowledge of what exactly is happening on that farm and it would change said family all the way down to the bone. It would destroy lives and it would save others. The life of the daughter of the farm would change forever as the powerful dragon rider Eragon came back to the town he grew up in, the town that had only brought pain and agony to the young farm-girl. A year and a half after the defeat of Galbatorix at the hands of Eragon and the Varden, Alagaësia has moved forward - without Eragon. Two hundred years ago the rider Eragon and his dragon Sahira were sent to the far east. Now they have returned to find the land they once knew was destroyed when the mysterious black king arose.
