Teresa wasn't the only girl to grace the Glade. Two years before Thomas was pulled from the cage, a girl named Sandy was presented to the boys of The Maze. Sandy wasn't your average girl. She was smart, strong, talented and above all, fast. Before he was the Keeper of the Gate, Gally was once a runner. Minho's second in command, if you will. And once Sandy was selected to become a runner, Gally was her trainer. Gally hated her. She was cocky, snide, always goofing off, never listening, always taking unnecessary risks. As for Sandy, she felt the same. He was arrogant, ignorant, always thinking so highly of himself, always following closely to the rules. And because she was the only girl in the Glade, it always felt like he was trying set the other against her. Always assuming, using the facts he thinks are true but never asking. One day while running their rounds together, they bicker. And their bickering turns into a full-blown fight. As the sun sets and the gate closes, they are trapped in the Maze overnight. After what seems like a night of terror transforms into a close bond. Slowly a friendship is formed between them. They run their rounds in peace now. Gally and Sandy take extra watches, man the cook fires, or garden together of their designated off days. As the days pass and their bond becomes stronger, something close to romance forms. But when disaster strikes, a malfunction in the gate, does this bond set them up for a bigger fall?

The only reason Gally ever broke was because the world left him no choice. Never able to muster the confidence to say what he wanted before losing his best friend, WICKED saw their chance to use him and they did. Once free from WICKED's grasp after leaving the maze, Gally is assured there's nothing left for him. That is, until someone named Lawrence slides a photograph across a table. Then, instead of retreating inside of himself, he chooses to become the opposite of his past and to let all the wrongs done to him fade away. His mission then on out is to help his friends and eventually get Y/N home. His friends left him to die once. Gally then swore to never do the same to someone else. All characters, world/setting and other parts of story related to The Maze Runner belong to James Dashner.

Maybe all Gally needs is a little bit of brilliance back in his life. this is trash! but i've had the idea for this little series for forever now, examining the relationships with the Gladers and the physical reminders of their trauma. i'll do newt/thomas next, but it'll be a bit. warning: this is short and has no dialogue! Newt has had many detective partners over the years. Some have been too bossy. Some too stupid. Some too arrogant. Some too touchy. And now he has a new one, and he's just hoping they'll be a little better than the ones before him. Thomas is happy to have lots of different partners. They always bring something new to the table, made it interesting. And now he's excited to have a new one. But, something more serious than their pretty squabbles and teasing will arise, and they must work together to figure out what's going on, and stop it before it blows out of their control.

In which the plan to pretend to be a boy gets foiled by a Keeper. Or... In which the girl turned boy trying to keep up appearances gets made by the Keeper of suspicion.

Gally is rescued by the crank army, where he meets Iris. He's learnt to live with this new life until he runs into some old friends, turning their lives upside down once again. Iris learns to live with the traumas of her past, with help from Gally. Will they all make it to the safe haven alive?
