Taylor, Kopano, and Nigel return to the Academy with Nine, but nothing is the same. As fear and resentment of the Human Garde continues to grow, the United Nations decrees that all humans with Legacies must be implanted with inhibitors. So our heroes will have no choice but to rebel. And with the Foundation still at large, Isabela, Caleb, and Ran have decided to join forces with their former foes Einar and Five to hunt them down. But when a new threat is revealed, the group may find itself painfully outmatched. They killed me in London, England, but I came back. I am Number Two, and I will fight alongside the Garde and demigods to win this war. We will win, and we will avenge Lorien, avenge our loved one's deaths, and save Earth. We are Lorien's- and Earth's- last hope. We will work together to save the earth from the Mogadorian army and their leader, Setrákus Ra, and we will do whatever it takes to do so. I am Number Two, Maggie Hoyle, Max Jackson, daughter of Poseidon, Greek god of the sea. I will fight with my people and we will save the world from the Mogadorians. We have more help then they do. We have more power then they do- more love, more hope. Sometimes though, I can't focus on the war. The love drama going on in my life with John Smith and Leo Valdez is terrible. And not just for me, for both of them, as well. This book is basically where I put a bunch of stories on the Garde, the Earth Garde, the Foundation...you name it! This is also where I practice my writing! WARNING: may be spoilers!

"So you're saying the rock moved or actually went into the air?" I inquire. "It went into the air! Crazy!" "Yeah," I mumble. I don't know why I taking this seriously. But Camilla's my friend. She's never lied to me before. So why would she lie now? Camilla shrugs. "Well, that's the story. You don't have to believe me." She gets up and brushes herself off. "I do." I tell her, and it's the truth.

"First blessed, first to die." Those were some of the last words I remember being said in my own language, before setting foot on Earth. That defined who I was, and who I would need to be in order to survive on this planet. My defiance of that calling is what got me arrested. After escaping, I unlocked something in me. Something I had been keeping suppressed in my need to feel human. My Legacies, those were the true call to arms. They woke me from this lie I was telling myself, and they led me here. They led me to become a leader, a protector, to the last of my kind. The only family I have left. I'll defend them like my own family defended me. And I'll kill anyone who threatens that family.
