Aliens, tragedies, complicated romances, and adventures worthy of Indiana Jones are all things only found in books and movies right? That's what Avril had thought too. Twelve year old Avril thought life was going smooth, until the night of August 25th, 2008 when Avrils' dad, an astronomer and researcher, was requested for an urgent space mission. Five years later, he still hasn't returned, and Avril finds her life becoming harder and more difficult to deal with - from dealing with her depressed mother and taking care of her little sister, to her school work and social life - that is, until one horrifying night that leads to her life drastically changing, and forcing Avril to deal with issues that no average human could possibly comprehend.

This Mass Effect fanfiction is post-war and includes the special ending of Mass Effect, FemShep x Vakarian, and light to medium language usage. °° Surprisingly, the only people who died during the run to the Citadel were Javik and Vega. Everyone else on the Normandy crew survived. But, many are badly injured, including Shepard, who had decided to destroy the Reapers but survived the blast. While the Citadel is being prepared, the only other available medical center is on the Normandy itself, making the crew feel strangely at home as they recuperate. However, Shepard is taking longer to heal than expected, and her turian boyfriend, Garrus Vakarian, is determined to stay by her side til the end.

What does it take to recover in the aftermath of the Reaper War, particularly through the lens of Garrus's grief over Shepard's presumed death. With the crew scattered in their mourning, searching for meaning and purpose in a universe that has been irrevocably changed. The faint hope sparked by Tali's discovery provides a glimmer of something to hold onto.
