She and gamer/theorist Matpat have a close friendship but Anika carries a rare power known as Digibond where she and her partner can be a single fighting force. She starts her journey with some friends, makes enemies but in the wake of an evil force that people called Shadowsteel she and Mat become part of a team of defenders who fight to keep the academy and the world safe. But how will it lead the journey ahead?

*This is a fantasy AU* 100 years have passed since the great Apocalypse. 85% of the Earth's population had been wiped out. Most of those who survived were caused to mutate by all the pollutants and toxins that now lingered in the air. Some of the mutations brought forth super powerful humans who were so majestic, they were baffling to even be in the presence of. These mutants are referred to as Tracers. However, with the creation of such wondrous people comes the ugly, violent reality. The other portion of The Affected were horrible monsters; disfigured, bloodthirsty, with no conscience or sense of logic. They were called Wasters. Tracers spent most of their days eleminating the Wasters. However, some Tracers would let their power overcome them, reaching the darkest parts of their minds and wiping out the good. These Tracers would slowly decend into madness, eventually losing all consciousness and becoming Wasters themselves. Then you have my people. We're the PureBloods. Only a handful of us exist. We're the ones who, by some unknown chance, not only survived but have gone unaffected by toxins. We are 100% preapocalyptic human. My people clash horribly with Tracers, even though they protect us from the Wasters. Our elders believe that Tracers are just dirty scavengers, and that they all turn dark eventually. But I don't.

Obviously, this is a PatxGar fanfic. And it is a high school au fanfic, because honestly, who doesn't love a good high school au fic? •~•~•~•~••~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~••~•~•~•~•~•• Pat is that stereotypical 'punk' kid in high school, from the attitude most of the time to the dress. He's more 'off to himself' and doesn't talk to too many people. But if it's a friend, he's as talkative as he can be. Gar on the other had, is the new kid. He's your classic high school awkward, nerdy, new kid that doesn't go up to people and talk to much, or like new places such as school. But, Pat and his friends (Wade, JP, etc.) quickly let him into their friend group, and Pat and Gar become close. ..but how close will they actually get? - fanboy 💕
