Matthew Emery is a field agent who works for the FBI. When his boss sends him to go undercover as Merlin Emrys, a socially awkward insomniac, he meets Arthur and Morgan Pennant, the mayors son and daughter. His boss, Mordred suspects that Uther Pennant, the mayor of Avalon, Maine, is targeting and killing people running for president. He is also supposedly working with a traitor inside of the FBI headquarters. As Merlin struggles to keep his identity a secret from his new found friends, he realizes the traitor is closer to him than he thought. Friendships will be tested, and secrets will be revealed in this story about the reincarnation of the characters from the famous Arthurian legends.
