A retired space marine attempts to reach the coveted utopia that reportedly lies behind a set of gruelling challenges designed to test physical endurance and mental fortitude, an intensely deadly gauntlet set in a remote, hostile destination. Very few succeed. Those that don't, perish.

"My bearer, don't die please!" The Gauntlet cried to its bearer. The sound of weeping emanated everywhere from the Gauntlet. Zirob, the Light Wielder who had died thousands of years in the past. The infestation of the Darkness had killed Zirob's connection to the Light. Zirob coughed, spilling blood and spoke with his last breath. "My Gauntlet of Light. That shines brilliantly under the weight of the Darkness. Do not waver. We will meet again as new friends under the warm blanket of peace." Zirob disintegrates leaving nothing behind. The Gauntlet of Light shines brightly and then fades away. No trace of them. What is left of the Archons have gathered and mourned for their Heroes. -- The Journal of Heroes.
