#HomoAmerican - How do I find the man that is inside me? I do get angry; I can't help myself, at books and films; images that are meant to define us, to bind us, to separate us ...and worse. We watch silver screen adaptations of abridged texts, of censored lives and the truth is no longer the truth; it's subjective and open to dangerous reinvention. Daydreams and night dreams of the discoveries of adolescence, of tenderness, of first kiss, flicker and then disappear. I float away on my king-size waterbed and walk in the warm night air and I hope ...I hope ...for anything to happen!!! But candles only cast shadows on my mirror-tiled walls and reflect endlessly a crushing reality; it's just me ...just me alone, in the world, in this desperately empty decade of freedom. I spiraled out of the rebellion of the 60's and landed here on this suburban shore, this desert island of my life.
