This is a series of extremely short poems, inspired by the Power and Conflict poetry anthology for AQA GCSE English Literature. In these, I change the storylines slightly to create a 'what if?' experience. I hope you enjoy, as I enjoy writing these to revise for my favourite subject :) (All rights reserved to original poets, this is my original work based off the P&C poems)

Edward and Hallie had been married for 7 years ever since they had met at that faithful day in a cafe. But then Hallie died of a disease she acquired due to childbirth. Edward felt as though he had no purpose in life... but he did and that was Leo, his little boy. He thought he was doing ok until an unexpected guest turns up on Edward's door... Nathaniel Raine loved his little sister. So much he would die for her. It broke his heart when he moved to the States for a better job. 9 years later, he receives news his sister is dead. He is devastated but furious no one ever told him. He goes back to England and he ends up having to deal with his infuriating brother-in-law for the next few months while he got everything sorted out. Can the two put their differences aside and deal with their grief?

Funny story. I was sitting one of my very last GCSE exams and suddenly, a rush of rebellion and creativity overwhelmed me. I picked up the extra piece of paper I had left and allowed my hand to be the dancer to the song of my thoughts and thus, a poem was born. Here, I spilled my true and pure feelings into a nutshell and then wrote them down into what I like to call as a "Hate Poem" :)

To put it simply, I really enjoy writing for GCSE English Language Paper 1 Question 5 (very specific I know), and I wanted to practice writing small descriptive pieces without much narrative about images I find interesting. So that's what this is - GCSE practice. You might notice a structure...

15 year old Greg Wright is in a right state. His Dad killed in a helicopter crash, his Mum in a coma, Greg is sent to live with his Great Uncle Archie who he has not only never met, but who he did not know even existed. Forced to leave the city, Greg moves from Bristol to a small Cornish fishing village smack bang in the middle of his GCSE exams. Left with no friends, no family, no Lindsay Mancini (ah, Lindsay Mancini...), Greg gets heavily into video games and angst and even sort of makes friends, against his better judgement, with Michael Parkinson, Uncle Archie's stinky ginger tomcat. When Greg gets invited to play in the "Kart-toons" racing game world championships in France, he jumps at the chance. He practises every day, he becomes UK number one and he's all set...except for one small detail. With no money and no way to make or borrow any, France seems like another planet and Greg gives up hope. That is, until three days before the contest when he discovers plans to build a small sailing boat online, and, behind Uncle Archie's back, he sets about making his dreams come true...
