Normal people aren't considered normal. They are classed as sub-human. And after the clear domination of the Gems, the humans, or rather now considered the Stones, are forced into what can basically be considered slavery. They are mistreated and kept as household workers, forced into their positions through the lack of any special abilities, which the Gems clearly have.
The economy is falling to ruin, especially with the hierarchy of the Gems beginning to blur and fall away. Friends begin turning against each other, fighting for the chance to claim the empty throne.
And tucked away in a cell under the city center, one girl awaits her death in a dark, musty cell. She has lost hope of being released ever, and lost care for what is happening in the world above her head. It doesn't concern her, and she is content with being left alone. She could never stand the noble class of the Gems, and even with them parading beside her cell every few days, she doesn't even attempt to better herself for a chance to escape.
Yet that doesn't stop one Gem for buying her freedom and taking her in.
What could his ulterior motives be that he would pick one slave over the rest?
The race for the throne will drive her mad, and fuel her with a fiery anger that she hasn't felt, nor unleashed, in years.
