Silence prevailed.. - Endless Ladder by @bluebraides Ever since I read this little piece of logic in Endless Ladder the words didn't stop pinching my mind. It actually takes a brave heart to accept everyone as equals. And it takes a braver heart to be yourself and survive when everyone else is spitting on you behind your back. Are we so pathetic that we get joy in bullying and gossiping about people all because they are a minority? Who are we to snatch away their rights? We don't consider them normal. But who should decide what is normal and what is not? The law or nature? Questions like these arose in my mind and I couldn't help write something. The poems I've written aren't that great and they certainly aren't filled up to the brink with literature. They're just my random thoughts on the immature and cruel behavior people show towards the LGBT people. Hope you like them. This was a procedural writing piece I wrote in grade eight on equality. Specifically, equality in the workplace; why men and women should be paid equally. Since writing this four years ago, I've learned more about equality in general, sexual orientation and gender identity. I do not mean to offend anyone with my writing or language used in this piece, and if I do, I am truly sorry. Your genitalia, hormones, or assigned gender at birth do not define who you are or who you choose to be. I wrote this for those who identify as female and who are seen as less because of that. Abandoned at birth, Shivanya Rawat was taken in by a childless couple with a chaotic family, completely unaware of her true identity. They raise her as their own, giving her a name and an identity. Would she actually be true to her identity, would she be able to make herself a part of the family that actually is hers? Or like always, would she be the outcast and the unaccepted one?

Taking place in the 1960-70s, a woman named Sophie Harper was born in Washington D.C. having a father who was a senator and mother who stayed home taking care of her and her two older brothers. She had dreams of being a public speaker for women to stand up for their rights. But due to gender discrimination, that probably won't happen.

In a patriarchal society the demands and dreams of a girl are often shattered.. This poem is based on a girl living in such a society who finds poem and pen as the only media for communicating her idea of a free life to world.

He looked at her and tilted his head to the side. He knew it was rude to stare but she was very beautiful. He liked her eyes the best he decided. Her clear grey orbs. Suddenly his mood changed, he looked annoyed and his expression became one of indifference. She cleared her throat and she curtsied to him. " Lord Ainsworth, good day Your grace." She smoothed the non existent crease on her gown. She was very uncomfortable under his scrutinizing eyes. This was the first time she had ever been in the presence of a highly placed noble, particularly a young, handsome and intimidating duke. She had heard the rumours about his beauty but it seemed to be too unreal. She was wrong, deeply. He shook his head, frowned and scolded himself for staring at her. He scowled and looked away from her. He regained his composure and squared his shoulders. "Miss Howells, I presume? The duchess would join you soon in the drawing room. I assume you know where that is." He cleared his throat and excused himself. He began walking away hastily. He swore to himself to avoid her at all costs through out her stay at Winterfield Estate. She ignited in him things that he had never felt, understood, add never wanted to, he had just admitted to himself that she was beautiful. He concluded that he hated her. As soon as he began walking away, Duraina fell into a deep curtsy. She felt her shoulders ease up a little, she was afraid of him but also intrigued by him. There was something beneath all of his silence and the scrutinizing gaze. She walked towards the drawing room which the butler had pointed to when she stubbornly refused to be accompanied to. She always hated people who looked down on others and that is what the butler did. She knew she wasn't nobility but still, she deserved a little respect. Even the butler should know that.
